The Geological Society combines historical charm with modern amenities across a variety of rooms:
Lecture Theatre – The 172-seat Lecture Theatre offers a full range of audio-visual facilities, perfect for both in-person and hybrid events. The friendly and expert AV team is on hand to ensure seamless delivery, whether your audience is onsite or joining remotely.
Lower Library – A spacious and airy break-out room attached to the Lecture Theatre. Ideal for refreshment breaks, lunches, dinners and drinks receptions.
Upper Library – A stunning, multi-level Victorian library that is an ideal location for film and photographic shoots. It also serves as a beautiful venue for dinners, with a seating capacity of up to 62 guests.
Council Room – Located on the first floor, this elegant room has plenty of natural daylight and is fully air-conditioned. It can accommodate up to 22 people boardroom style, 32 theatre style or 30 people for a seated lunch or dinner. Large screen and conference facilities are included.
William Buckland Room – Located on the lower-ground floor, this room offers an intimate space surrounded by glass cases of leather-bound books, and can accommodate up to 14 people seated boardroom style. Screen and conference facilities included.
Arthur Holmes Room – Located on the ground floor, this room is an ideal space for small meetings or dinners of up to 14 people boardroom style. It also works well as a breakout space for larger events. Large screen and conference facilities included.
Gertrude Elles Room – Located on the first floor, adjacent to the Upper Library, this room is ideal for small meetings of up to 13 people seated in boardroom style or 60 people standing, with a pleasant view of Burlington House courtyard.
Lyell Room – Beautiful and elegant reading room that can host small meetings of up to 6 people
